Visual Arts Program The Visual Arts Program
At Wandin Yallock, art is practised and valued as an important outlet for students to use and develop their creativity, imagination and skills.
Each grade has an one hour lesson per week. The areas covered are painting, drawing, printing, collage, threads and textiles, construction and collage.

The Visual Arts Program:

  • Builds on existing levels of creativity, skills and knowledge.
  • Provides the opportunity for all children to experience and experiment with a variety of art media and 2D and 3D materials.
  • Provides opportunities for students to appreciate their own work and the work of other artists.
  • Provides for the display of children’s art work around the school, to be shared by peers, parents and visitors.

Things you can help your child with Visual Arts at home:

  • Show a real appreciation of the creations that your child brings home from school and leave them on display for a while.
  • Where possible, provide your child with simple art/craft materials such as paper, paint, playdough, chalk, scissors and cardboard boxes.
  • Share your own positive experiences in art/craft and any artistic/craft skills you might have. There can be a tremendous feeling of satisfaction in passing on your skills to your child.
