This School Council Committee is responsible for all maintenance and improvements to all buildings, grounds and furniture and this is entrusted to the Facilities sub-committee. What a wonderful band of willing workers these people are!
Over the years we have a proud history of community involvement in the school and this is exemplified by this committee. It is this committee which designed and built our waiting area, covered walkway, stadium, Japanese garden, concrete and paved areas and all the gardens and playgrounds. Most of this is accomplished with volunteer labour and with working bees.
The Committee also oversee any major works like painting, sewerage works and cleaning. Currently they are working on implementing Stage 3 of our stadium - toilets, change rooms, foyer and kitchen as well as extending our walkways and more covered areas for the children. |

Our school is so lucky to have a very enthusiastic and willing group of children who comprise the Junior Facilities.
They are voted in by their peers and each grade is represented by two children. They run the meetings themselves assisted by two teachers and type up the minutes as well; they do quite a lot of work around the school as well as keeping a watch on what needs to be done.
Once a year they join with the "big" Facilities Sub-committee of the School Council in a joint meeting.
They have a couple of working bees a year during school time to undertake some maintenance around the school; they report back with suggestions and/or problems and bring recommendations from their classes at each meeting. What a great band of workers we have! What responsible ownership of the school we all have! |
