Wandin Yallock Primary School is justifiably proud of its computer program and the resources they have been able to provide for the school community. Each classroom has at least five computers with the grade 5/6 area having at least six. In addition to this there is a computer lab with 15 computers in the library with plans to increase this with more computers!. The computers themselves and the software/running systems are regularly updated; all computers in the school are of the same configuration and each child has their own login code which they keep for the duration of their stay at our school. We are presently running Windows XP. We provide computers as part of our curriculum, which most children taking part in the "future kids" program to increase their knowledge and skills with computers. Infants use Max's Toolbox as part of this and the 3 - 6 use Windows as their base. We have many excellent educational programs as well to supplement learning in the key areas of Maths and English. The school also offers copies of these programs very cheaply through the software provider.
Because of the excellent way they are set up (thanks to Mr. Byatt) we have very few downtimes with our computers. All children sign an agreement about use of the Internet (co-signed by their parents) and it is strictly monitored. Our children who leave the school in grade 6 are very well skilled and familiar with many aspects of I.C.T.
