The history of Wandin Yallock Primary School dates back to 1870 when it was first approved by the government as a Common School. The weather-board building with a shingle roof and slab floor was situated on one acre of land where the present Uniting Church stands. A new building and residence was opened on the present site in March 1885. Wandin Yallock will celebrate its 138th year in 2008.
The school motto is "A Tradition of Caring and Excellence in Education". There is a strong foundation of values which is evident in many innovative curriculum programs. We are proud of our Peer Support program which provides leadership opportunities for our senior students as they care for our beginning students. Wandin Yallock Primary School enjoys close links with the wider community. We value the support of families and community groups and believe that the sense of warm friendship in our staff room is a unique characteristic of Wandin Yallock. Teachers and staff are dedicated to providing a stimulating learning environment. We create effective learning partnerships through respectful relationships. Our student award system is testament to excellent student outcomes in terms of achievement and effort. We strive to build a culture where our students are safe and happy. Our goal is to prepare our children to be effective life long learners in a rapidly changing world. |
