Our Vision

Established in 1870, Wandin Yallock Primary School is nestled amongst orchards and general farming land in the picturesque Yarra Valley.

Wandin Yallock’s teaching team and support staff show commitment to positive relationships and purposeful teaching leading to safe and happy children engaged in successful learning. We constantly seek improvement in developing effective teaching strategies including comprehensive assessment tools, explicit teaching methods and using student learning data to inform planning. We are committed to quality professional learning that has direct benefit for student learning.

Teachers and parents are united in a shared belief that actively promoting values is essential to a rich learning culture. All children are encouraged to be caring, responsible, resilient and respectful. We focus on student Wellbeing through prevention and early intervention arising from our commitment to investing in laying early foundations of positive relationships and successful learning. This commitment to relational learning is also expressed through Restorative Practices with an emphasis on working respectfully with students and their families.

We enjoy a unique partnership with Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead and Education Centre where our students host visiting schools. This program offers rich hands-on learning experiences, leadership skills and access to the authentic local history of the region's earliest pioneers. Our school is in a rural environment with established gardens and our own farm. Our new building facilities harmonise with the landscape and our much-loved original school.

We promote strong learning partnerships and are very fortunate to have high levels of parent and community support. A community funded and constructed stadium provides options for sport and community events. Our students make the most of diverse sporting opportunities and we are well represented at zone, regional and state championships. The curriculum includes French, Physical Education and Art.

Our learning studios are flexible and beautiful spaces that enhance powerful learning, with the final building stage was completed in 2013. We were thrilled to celebrate our 150th birthday (plus 2)in 2022 and remember how important it is to honour our rich past as we equip our students for a happy and successful future.
